Psychedelic punk band Butthole Surfers’ “Cream Corn from the Socket of Davis” is turning 40 in October. The late Arlington drummer Teresa Nervosa played on two songs on the 1985 EP.

Fort Worth-based singer-songwriter @abrahamalexand

Fort Worth-based singer-songwriter @abrahamalexander and @adrianmquesada are hosting an in-person Q&A session at Oak Cliff’s @texastheatre after a screening of “Sing Sing” on Sunday, February 16.

Alexander’s collaboration with Quesada, “Like a Bird,” landed an Oscar nomination for Best Song, and the duo recently performed the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Over the course of the week-long festival JAMBALOO, @andysdenton hosted more than 22 bands—a powerful testament to the talent thriving in the North Texas music scene. While the festival enlivened the intimate space known for supporting local acts and rising bands, there was an undeniable bittersweet note.

At the end of February, Andy’s Bar will close its doors. For 30 years, this intimate venue has served as the launching pad for countless Denton bands, nurturing local talent and providing a steppingstone for artists looking to reach audiences far beyond Denton.

The inaugural JAMBALOO kicked off with an industry

The inaugural JAMBALOO kicked off with an industry symposium at @tulipsftw in Fort Worth, setting the stage for an eight-day celebration of North Texas’s rich musical landscape.

The symposium on Saturday featured an esteemed panel of industry experts, including Grammy-winning rapper and songwriter @bobbysessions; Kristina Kirkenaer-Hart, Director of Cultural Tourism at the Dallas Music Office; Tom Martens, Vice President of Creative and Film & Music Director at the Fort Worth Music Office; and Chip Adams, Director of the Texas Music Office. The discussion was moderated by KXT Program Director Benji McPhail.

Drawing from decades of experience, the panelists delved into the past, present, and future of the DFW music ecosystem. Their insights underscored the region’s dynamic musical heritage and the collaborative efforts propelling it forward.
