For World Cafe’s Sense of Place visit to Sydney, the lead singer and bassist for Australian psychedelic rockers The Church, Steve Kilbey, joins David Dye for a hilarious and wide ranging conversation about his career. And from outside Sydney in the Blue Mountains, indie-pop artist Julia Jacklin debuts her first album, Don’t Let the Kids Win, with angelic lyrics that keeps you wanting more.

For World Cafe’s Sense of Place visit to Sydney, we meet the fresh indie-pop trio, Middle Kids, whose two debut singles, “Your Love” and “Edge of Town,” made an immediate impression.
Thursday, November 17
World Cafe’s Sense of Place visit to Sydney continues with Midnight Oil frontman, Peter Garrett. After nearly 15 years serving as a minister in the Australian government, he’s released his solo debut called A Version of Now. We’ll also hear from the people behind Triple J radio’s Unearthed, that gives a platform to new Australian bands.

World Cafe’s Sense of Place visit to Sydney wraps up with a live performance from Gang of Youths’ new EP, Let Me Be Clear. Plus, a session with Jagwar Ma, who produce psychedelic dance music with bigger and better sounds on their sophomore album, Every Now & Then.
