Concerts this week in North Texas

Step aside, Portland. The 90s are alive in North Texas.

Well, this week anyway. From Counting Crows to Weezer, some old favorites will be making an appearance around the North Texas live music scene over the next seven days. Of course, there are plenty of new and local artists to discover, too. It’s all here for the taking in your weekly KXT Concert Calendar:

Monday, October 5

Alt-J‘s  first album An Awesome Wave was aptly named, for we — and so many others — were swept away by their haunting vocals and folky, dub-pop sounds. You can catch them tonight in Dallas at South Side Ballroom; tickets here.

Tuesday, October 4

It seems House of Blues is the place to be Tuesday. KXT Presents Albert Hammond Jr., guitarist for The Strokes, just on the heels of the release of his third solo album, Momentary Masters. Tickets here.

And Lord Huron may be a fool for love, but we’re a fool for Lord Huron. Get your tickets to KXT Presents Lord Huron at House of Blues here.

Wednesday, October 6

If you’re in need of a mid-week dance party, Walk the Moon will be playing at South Side Ballroom Wednesday night. This 90s-video-game-throwback-video for “Shut up and Dance” will psych you up to bust a move. Tickets here.

Thursday, October 8

BØRNS‘ new EP Candy is a treat for any electro-pop fan. If you’re bummed you couldn’t get tickets to this sold-out KXT Presents show, try this electrifying video on for size — no doubt it will put you in a good mood.

Friday, October 9

Weezer, Fitz and The Tantrums, AND Trombone Shorty all in one night? Say it ain’t so! Er, but cheesy puns aside, The Reunion makes its grand debut this weekend at The Lawn at Reunion Tower. And with these headliners, it’s sure to be a smash. While you’re purchasing your tickets here, go ahead and enjoy this classic, just for kicks and giggles:

Saturday, October 10

If you weren’t singing “Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la” in 1993, and in many subsequent years after, it’s possible your 1990’s experience was a bit of a fail. Still, you can discover or relive the American alt-rock sounds of Counting Crows this weekend at Allen Event Center. Tickets here. Again, here’s an oldie, but a goodie:

Denton’s Seryn isn’t straying too far from home for their next gig. KXT Presents Seryn in Fort Worth this Saturday at Shipping & Receiving. Tickets here. And if you haven’t already heard it, their recently revamped edition of “We Will All Be Changed” is definitely worth a listen:

In her own words(ish), Marian Hill is not an artist you can listen to just one time. We’ve been drooling over this standout jam lately, but Hill isn’t going to loose her sway with us anytime soon. Tickets to KXT Presents Marian Hill at House of Blues here.
