    jeff

    • Paul Slavens

some wonderful suggestions, thank you so much, hope I can track all this stuff down for next week.

  • Andy Davis

    Hi Paul,
I’ve only been aware of your show for about 3 months, which is about how long I’ve been aware of my local PBS station kxt 91.7fm. I love the show, the format and just about all the music…I’m not hard to please however 🙂 I love music in general. My own collection one will find anything from the Roy Acuff you just played to Andean flute music to Blues to Big Band sounds. I took this time to ask to see if you’ve ever heard of this group, now gone solo unfortunately, Sisters Morales. If you’d play anything from them it’d be great, but I will suggest one from their first CD called Ain’t No Perfect Diamond; the song is called Noche de Ronda. Lisa and Robin were a fantastic duo and wonderful to hear in person, which my wife and children have done many times over the years…we are quite sad that they’ve apparently broken up the band.
Thanks for this venue and I look forward to chatting and blogging more in the future!
    Andy

  • Thom Lake

    Hey Paul,
    Silversun Pickups – Panic Switch
Los Lobos – Two Janes or Angels With Dirty Faces

  • Kevin Kunreuther

I’ll never forget first time I heard this on radio in UK on the Medium Wave radio (yep, they called AM that in Blighty). Great b-side, too. Why doesn’t anyone ever play “Kite”?

  • Ray

How about Barrence Whitfield or Jimmy Thackery next week?

  • Diggin’ the show tonight, John Player Special. I’d love to hear a focus on local women singers you like sometime soon.

Mike Brewer & Tom Shipley were peers to Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel and may well have exceeded their popularity had they been less anti-authority in their lyrics.
Wichi Tai To is one of their best compositions and actually got pretty good air play here in North Texas. Maybe too late for this weeks show but I’ll listen again & again.
It was good seeing you at Prairie Fest in Fort Worth.
    Jim Duncan

    • Paul Slavens

excellent batch of suggestions. thank you so much, next weeks show will be rockin good if I can track it all down.

  • Jon

Hey Paul! I am a supporting member #61130098 obviously I love what you do and “Our” station:) I realize it’s not cutting edge, but how about some Daniel Johnston. Austin local blah blah. Maybe story of an artist or. Casper the friendly ghost? If not cool too;) rock on!!

    • Paul Slavens

Daniel is still pretty cutting edge as far as i am concerned. I love playing him. Thanks.

  • RockyG

I’m trying to figure it out myself. Saw Bob Dylan last night at Winstar. Yes/Styx the night before and now Framptom is gonna play “show me the way” in an old brick building in Ardmore Ok. I love music of All kinds like all ya’ll here. Gonna check Framptom off the list next month
    peace

  • Joe Henley

    • Paul Slavens

      Yes, I will.,

      • Paul Slavens

Thanks for tuning in and giving such great suggestions, totally looking forward to next weeks show.
Good night and have a great week.

  • Bonnie

What was the name of that Blasters song you played tonight? I don’t see it on the playlist. I caught that it was off the Blasters Collection but missed the title. I’m a big Dave Alvin fan and often forget that I want to go back and hear more of his Blasters roots. Thanks!

    • Stephen Becker

      Bonnie –
The setlist has been added now. Looks like the name of the song was “Samson And Delilah.”

  • Andrew

I really enjoyed The Cush, “One Shot Love,” Frequencies. I googled them and they are not anywhere on the web. The only reference a search comes up with is your show. Where the heck did you get their music?

I’ve had a copy of Cocteau Twins, “Sugar Hiccup” since 1985-ish. I love them and love lots of reverb. Your show was the 1st time I’ve heard Cocteau Twins on the radio. I still think their song “BLUE BEARD” is their best work.

“The Best of Frank Ifield” is available on Curb Records D2-77453. ‘Oh, Such a Stranger’ is a nice 3/4 waltz. ‘Lovesick Blues’ is a neat upbeat song.
