Calling all North Texas musicians! You have till Tues, Feb. 2 to enter NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest!
Over the years, a certain NPR employee’s certain tiny desk has hosted hundreds of musicians including Adele, The National, The Avett Brothers, John Legend, Courtney Barnett, Death Cab for Cutie and Leon Bridges — just to name a few.
Last year undiscovered musicians got their chance at a deskside performance in the inaugural Tiny Desk Contest. Over 7,000 musicians entered, resulting in the brilliant discovery of Fantastic Negrito (who, by the way, we had the pleasure of seeing at last year’s KXT Summer Cut.)
This year, NPR Music is once again looking to invite some great, new talent to play at NPR’s headquarters in D.C., and we think it would be pretty swell if that talent hailed from North Texas.
So, get your entries in, folks! Details on the application process — and the sweet winnings — can be found here.
Good luck, North Texas!
FYI, here is last year’s winning entry from Fantastic Negrito:
And here’s our rather stellar KXT On the Road session with the artist, as well:
