We thought he’d live forever, but were blindsided by the news coming down the wire early this morning. As the world reels from the passing of David Bowie, we’d like to take a moment to thank him for being the quintessential innovator, visionary, actor, poet, painter, provocateur, and rock ‘n’ roll chameleon – and of course, the hours of brilliance he’s left us with via his music . His 50-year sphere of influence has been felt far and wide, and will continue to inspire for years to come. Planet Earth is indeed a bluer place today, and adjusting to a world without David Bowie will take time.
The tributes and reflections have been pouring in from Mr. Bowie’s friends and colleagues – Iggy, Tony Visconti, Brian May of Queen, etc. – but perhaps Carrie Brownstein said it best on Twitter: “It feels like we lost something elemental, as if an entire color is gone.”
Thank you, sir.
XOXO
