The Foo Fighters capped off their second consecutive weekend of headlining the Austin City Limits Music Festival with guest appearances by a couple of native Texans.
Midway through their set, vocalist Dave Grohl announced the band has recorded five new songs in Austin, including one with Greenville, Texas’ own Ben Kweller. Then, Ben hopped on stage to perform a sweet, slowed-down rendition of “Big Me” from the Foo Fighters’ debut album.

Later in the set, Grohl invited Austin native Gary Clark Jr. on stage to perform “What Did I Do? / God As My Witness” from the Foo Fighters’ eighth album, Sonic Highways. GCJ has all but taken over the world since he played to a crowd of 200 people at KXT’s Barefoot at the Belmont in 2012.
We last hung out with Ben in April when he kicked off the South Main Music Series at Shipping & Receiving Bar in Fort Worth. He stopped by our studios back in 2012 to perform songs from his fifth album, Go Fly a Kite.
