Although every note of Fort Worth’s @marfalights

Although every note of Fort Worth’s @marfalightsmusic’s self-titled debut album is original, there is an unshakable sense of déjà vu — of the past colliding with the present. According to Marfa Lights’ Daniel Hines, such vibes are intentional.

“The whole old technology-meets-new technology theme runs through the whole album,” Hines said during a recent conversation. “I went to an estate sale about a year ago, before we started recording the album, and I found an old Hammond drum machine from the ‘70s, I bought that and that became a big part of the album. Old Casio keyboards … there’s a lot of ‘80s and ‘90s references in the album.”

Marfa Lights will celebrate the release of its debut on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Fort Worth’s Ridglea Room – more album details at the link in bio.

The second annual Booker T Live music festival wil

The second annual Booker T Live music festival will feature a mixture of established local artists alongside students from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (@btwhspva) 🎵

The event, which launched in 2021 amid the pandemic, has shifted from its socially distanced origins to an annual benefit for and showcase of the renowned Dallas school’s talented student population.

Performers include @ishimusic, @tippybalady, @deathbymonkeyband, @btwwimec and more.

“Austin City Limits” is the longest-running show of its kind in television history. Early on, people might have been tempted to pigeonhole it as a country music show – but then producer Terry Lickona arrived on the scene.
