The @candlelitopenmic, now in its 27th consecutive week, has become more than just a performance slot. It’s evolving into a nurturing ecosystem for North Texas singer-songwriters of all ages and skill levels.⁠

At the center of it all is @ryanbergdtx, a Dallas-based musician with a warm, grounded presence who serves as both host and gentle guide. Berg opens the evening with his own 7 p.m. set before introducing a new featured artist each week at 8 p.m., followed by open mic performances running until midnight.⁠

Longtime Dallas cultural figure and music historian Jeffrey Liles invites you to help write his script this Satuday—literally. In a one-night-only storytelling performance, Liles will respond live to audience-submitted prompts, diving deep into his decades of experiences in the music world, both in Dallas and beyond.⁠

At Storytellers at The Kessler: Cottonmouth, guests will be asked to jot down one topic—maybe a band, venue, genre, record store, anything—and those prompts will be handed off to journalist and moderator Robert Wilonsky, who will help guide the evening’s narrative in loose chronological order.⁠

The 2025 State Fair of Texas is right around the corner.⁠

The fair unveiled its free music line-up, with an eclectic mix of more than 100 artists drawn from a variety of genres, including electro-pop, Norteno, R&B and country. This year’s Fair opens on Friday, September 26, and the opening weekend line-up includes Kaitlin Butts, Wade Bowen, Fat Daddy, TLC, La Reunion Nortena and La Furia Del Bravo.⁠

Also appearing on the Main Stage throughout the Fair: Kat Hasty, Brian McKnight, @joshuaraywalker, The Band Perry, Yola, Hoobastank, Paul Wall and Cold War Kids. ⁠
