New Music Monday picks for January 4, 2016

Happy, happy new year to you and a big, hearty welcome to your very first New Music Monday picks for 2016!

Just in time for what would’ve been the day following George Harrison‘s 73rd birthday, get ready for the release of George Fest: A Night To Celebrate The Music Of George Harrison. This all-star tribute includes offerings from Conan O’Brien, Perry Farrell from Jane’s Addiction, the Heartless Bastards and a faithful rendition of the Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle With Care” with George’s son Dhani, Brandon Flowers from The Killers, Britt Daniel of Spoon, Jonathan Bates from Big Black Delta, Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips, and “Weird Al” Yankovic. And yes, that’s Eric Pulido from Midlake in there, too. Roll on, February 26…

The Gaslight Anthem‘s frontman Brian Fallon teamed up with acclaimed songwriter and producer Butch Walker for what’ll surely be one of the best releases of early 2016 — his debut solo album, Painkillers. Like the tunes from another beloved North Jersey native, this rousing lead track is guaranteed to please, and leave you chomping at the bit for more.

How much do we love Lucinda Williams? Let us count the ways. Look for The Ghosts Of Highway 20 to land on February 5 and enjoy this performance of stunning lead single, “Dust.”

XOXO
