Concerts this week in North Texas

Family bands, local artists, beer festivals and Scottish synthers. These are, well, some of our favorite things. But more importantly these are a few of the things you can expect to find around the North Texas music scene this weekend:

Thursday, Nov. 5

Get your weekend off to a dreamy-synthy start with CHVRCHES at The Bomb Factory. The Scottish electro-pop group is touring for their second album, Every Open Eye. Here’s a little sampler for you:

Friday, Nov. 6

Heartless Bastards have been described as country twang, hard rock n’ roll and everything in-between. Whatever you call the Austin-based band, you can’t deny this group’s captivating live performances, fueled by the ever-powerful vocals of Erika Wennerstrom. They play in Fort Worth this Friday at Shipping & Receiving with Slothrust and Gollay, for what is sure to be a lovely musical assemblage.

Speaking of lovely collaborations, is there a more heartwarming, talented pair than Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear? The mother-son duo (yes, you read that right) play at The Kessler in Dallas on Friday. They had us at this Tiny Desk Concert:

Saturday, Nov. 7

On Saturday at Fair Park, Untapped Dallas is delivering 100+ breweries; 400+ beers; and 12 stellar bands including The Flaming LipsDr. Dog, The Pharcyde and Elle King. Do we really need to say more? No? Great, see you there.

Tickets here.

Sunday, Nov. 8

Your laundry can wait till Monday, because this Sunday night you should find yourself at House of Blues jamming out to The Psychedelic Furs. It’s no secret that we’re suckers for a good family-musical act, and British punk-brothers Richard and Tim Butler are no exception. Here’s an oldie you might recognize:
