Concerts this week in North Texas

London is calling. Well, at least its insanely talented musicians are.

We’ve got a Brit-tastic lineup for you this week — with a few favorite Yankees thrown in, too. Here’s your weekly concert calendar, North Texas:

Thurs, Oct. 22

We fell pretty hard for Lianne La Havas‘ album debut, Is Your Love Big Enough?, back in 2012. (As did President Obama, by the way.) And with her release of Blood, we’re all the more smitten with this 26-year-old Londoner. Don’t miss her at House of Blues this Thursday. And if you haven’t seen it already, her recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert is worth several views:

Fri, Oct. 23 – Sat, Oct. 23

The Prophet Bar has been transcending and transforming the Dallas music scene in Deep Ellum for 30 years. And this weekend, they’re celebrating that triumph with a bang — a bang that includes two days of music, glass-raising and all-around merriment with performances by Ten Hands, Meat Puppets, Soul Asylum and more.

Here’s the ticket info/lineups for Day 1 and Day 2.

Sat, Oct. 24

My Morning Jacket is touring in support of their recent LP, The Waterfall, and we’re counting our lucky stars that North Texas made the cut. The alt-indie folksters are closing in on nearly 20 years of making music and knock-out performances. Is it Saturday yet?

Tues, Oct. 27

Britain’s Django Django will trek across the pond to make landfall in Dallas early next week. The acclaimed eclectic-psychedelic-quartet released their second album, Born Under Saturn, earlier this year. Here’s a nice little b-side from those recording sessions that the group released earlier this month:

*This concert was previously scheduled to be held at Granada Theater, however will now take place at Club Dada. All purchased tickets will be honored. Doors and set times will remain the same.

Wed, Oct. 28

Need a midweek pick-me-up? Dallas’ own Larry g(EE) has you covered. We had the distinct pleasure of having the Dallas soul-pop artist at our Barefoot at the Belmont concert series this last summer. Trust us when we say this is not a performance you want to miss.

But if you’re digging more of an alt-folk/rock sound come midweek, you should probably find yourself at House of Blues on Wednesday where English singer-songwriter Frank Turner will perform with his backup band The Sleeping Souls. Have you seen his KXT Live Session from back in 2013? We’re still gaga over it:

Happy concerting!
