In 2012, The Polyphonic Spree celebrated their 10th annual Holiday Extravaganza with an album, “Holidaydream,” a live tour and a performance on @nprmusic Tiny Desk 🎶

@polyspree treated the NPR Music office to two traditional carols — "The Christmas Song" and "Silver Bells" — and the John Lennon classic "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)."

The past 12 months have seen all manner of musical act pass through North Texas on stages large and small.

Even though we’re in the thick of the holiday season, it appears that steady pace won’t slacken — the days before and after Christmas are stuffed with noteworthy concerts, including The Polyphonic Spree's (@polyspree) 21st annual Christmas Extravaganza, Arlington a cappella group Pentatonix, and more.

For his latest project, Fort Worth-based singer-so

For his latest project, Fort Worth-based singer-songwriter @courthoang found inspiration in an unlikely place — the calendar.

Hoang understood the simple fact that the music business now is driven by an unrelenting amount of content dispensed at an equally merciless pace, but decided to beat the algorithm at its own game.

The entire project is called Triptychs, but it is being broken up into four distinct volumes, each one pegged to a season and featuring three songs. The first, "Autumn," is out now, and "Winter," the second installment, will arrive on December 22.

Returning for its third year, @molten_plains Fest, which builds upon a monthly series, is scaling back just a tad for this edition — only a single day, instead of multiple days — but the overall focus is no less ambitious.

On Saturday, December 14, Denton’s Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios will once again showcase “the spirit of adventurous music and further sounds,” per festival organizers Ernesto Montiel and Sarah Ruth Alexander.

Eight sets featuring 20 artists hailing from 10 different cities will unfold at @rgrsdentontx, pulling from an array of eclectic genres — everything from free jazz to field recordings will be on hand to sample.
