Privacy Policy

At KXT, we recognize and respect the importance of your privacy and are firmly committed to protecting your privacy. KXT (and its parent, KERA/Public Media for North Texas) adheres to a strict policy for ensuring the privacy of your personally identifiable information (such as full name, address, e-mail address, telephone number and/or other identifiable information) and preserving the integrity of this online medium.

User Information

Our site’s registration form requests enrollment contact information, but you are not required to provide this information unless you desire to give it to us. If you choose not to provide this information, then certain offers may not be available to you. These offers may include contest or sweepstakes registration, community postings, on-line membership registration, e-newsletter signup, etc.

KXT may use your personally identifiable information for activities explained above, for internal and marketing promotional purposes, or when lists of customers’ standard mailing addresses are made available to carefully screened non-profit organizations whose products or services might interest individuals who have participated in kera.org web activities unless you request that we do not provide such information to these companies. (See Name and Address Exchanges below.)

In addition, we occasionally may employ other companies to communicate on our behalf. They may have access to the personal information needed to fulfill their functions, but may not use it for any other purposes.

KXT does partner with outside companies for Web content, special offers, promotions and other related activities. In cases where offers or information are requested by outside companies, when you choose to offer any personal information to such company, you are providing this information to a third party. KXT is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any other party’s site.

Online Security

Personally-identifying information, including credit card numbers and other financial information, that you enter into our Contribute and Shop functions is stored in encrypted form on secure servers. Access to personally-identifying information in our databases is strictly limited to specific KXT employees and contracted third-party vendors who handle member communications, process online contributions and fulfill merchandise orders.

Cookies and Browsers

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. KXT uses cookies to recognize your identity in KXT’s online Shop and Contribution functions so you don’t have to reconfirm each time you visit our site.  Certain other sections also use cookies to accurately count visitors to that content.

Online Contributions and Card Security

KXT offers you the ease of making membership contributions and product purchases via credit card. KXT and our third-party vendors, who support the Contribution pages, utilize up-to-date best practices to guarantee credit card account information security and to secure any information from your computer to our server. All online credit card transactions are done through a secure server using VeriSign, and your credit card information is used only for your intended purpose – for the purchase or contribution you wish to make.

E-Newsletter

KXT offers free electronic newsletters to users. These newsletters include highlights of KXT programming and other information of interest to KXT viewers and listeners. To subscribe, you must provide your email address. To remove yourself from the mailing list, follow the instructions at the bottom of each e-newsletter.

E-Mail Address Policy

This is an opt-out online program. You will only receive e-mail from KXT based on information you supply us, and this information will not be shared with others that will contact you without your consent.

Name and Address Exchanges

From time to time, KXT makes its membership list available to select organizations and has access to their lists in exchange. If you do not want your name exchanged with other organizations, please contact Audience and Member Services at (214)740-9272 or via email at kxt.org/contact.

If you are under 13 years of age, please do not send any information about yourself, including your name, address or e-mail address. If we discover that we have collected any personally-identifying information from a child under the age of 13, we will remove that information from our database as soon as possible.
