Delta Spirit frontman Matt Vasquez met up with KXT’s On the Road crew for an intimate acoustic performance with some lucky fans before the band’s sold-out show at the Granada Theater. Vasquez played the band’s latest single “California” atop the Sundown at Granada rooftop patio.

On The Road: After driving all night from their Dallas gig to South by Southwest in Austin, the band members of Middle Brother raced up in their road-weary black van to a shoot with KXT, along with an entourage of others who piled out. Tired, but in good spirits, Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Matt Vasquez (Delta Spirit) and John McCauley (Deer Tick) performed a beautiful, acoustic version of their song “Million Dollar Bill” off their debut album, Middle Brother. They left the shoot excited to be in Austin and ready to see some bands, the idea of sleep a distant thought.
San Diego band Delta Spirit formed in 2005 and released their debut EP, I Think I’ve Found It, in 2006. The band decided to self-produce and record their debut full-length album, Ode to Sunshine, in a a cabin in the San Diego mountains. Their second album, History From Below, was released June 2010. The band stopped by the studio Thursday, July 15, to play a few songs during the KXT Afternoon Show with Joe Kozera.
