Maren also attended the first ever Grammy Camp, presented by the Recording Academy, as the only Texas artist invited among 43 students from across the nation. Fate Lions

Local rockers Fate Lions stopped by the KXT studio for a live performance on Wednesday, December 16th 2009. Though they produce a throwback sound akin to ’80s pop icons like R.E.M. and Elvis Costello, Fate Lions push the genre forward on their debut record Good Enough For You. This band, which the Fort Worth Weekly calls “the real deal”, seems poised for success far beyond the DFW/Denton area.

Brave Combo

Trying to describe Brave Combo’s music requires a pretty extensive vocabulary at least when it comes to musical styles. For the past three decades the Denton, Texas based quintet has perfected a world music mix that includes salsa, meringue, rock, cumbia, conjunto, polka, zydeco, classical, cha cha, the blues and more — offering what one critic recently wrote, “Even if you come for the party, you’ll leave with something of a musical education.” Hot on the heels of their new Christmas CD Christmas Present, Brave Combo joined morning host Gini Mascorro Wednesday, December 9 for an exclusive live performance.

Having toured with Pete Yorn, the Old 97s, the Breeders, and Superchunk, John Dufilho and company have carved out a healthy following and continue to crank out great music.
