New Music Monday Picks For April 4

KXT’s New Music Monday picks for April 4 feature every flavor of the musical rainbow. Dig in:

Six long years have passed since her last album, The Sea, and as fans of UK songbird Corinne Bailey Rae eagerly await the May release of The Heart Speaks In Whispers, instant gratification comes in the form of the lead single, “Stop Where You Are,” which she performed for us in her recent KXT Live Session. She also shot this super-cool, slo-mo video for it, celebrating the beautiful misfits of the world and those who love ’em. Oh, and if you happen to be in the UK over the summer, don’t miss her on tour with Lionel Richie!

If anyone can help you shake the weekend cobwebs from your brain, it’s Nathaniel Ratefliff & The Night Sweats. Get your twist and groove on with this addictive lil’ number he recently wowed the late night TV crowd with: “I Need Never Get Old.”

The mighty return of Bobby Gillespie and Primal Scream is indeed a noteworthy occasion, and their 11th studio album Chaosmosis arrives just in time before the 20th anniversary of their landmark Screamadelica. Timing is everything, especially when you’ve got Sky Ferreira chipping in to assist and a cameo from the L.A. sister trio Haim on “Trippin’ On Your Love.”

Get ready for your smash hit of the summer, courtesy of Fitz & The Tantrums. Our Spidey sense dictates that this one’ll be just as pervasive as the smell of Coppertone and frothy coconut libations here in the coming months. Never hurts to get a head start, right? Keep an eye out for the new self-titled release, due to hit June 10, and catch ‘em in Dallas at the House of Blues on July 23.

She’s put in time with the Denver band Paper Bird and her turn with Shakey Graves on “Dearly Departed” secured her place on the hits map for all eternity. Vocal powerhouse Esme Patterson gets ready for her close-up with the June 10 release of her third full-length, We Were Wild, and this New Wave-flavored bit of fabulousness called “Feel Right.”

XOXO
