New Music Monday Picks For February 29, 2016

What do you get when you combine four Texans, Carl Sagan, Willie Nelson and George Gershwin? Possibly the set up for a terrible joke. But, more importantly, the makings of this week’s New Music Monday picks. Enjoy…

Raise your hand if you think Willie Nelson‘s birthday should be an official Texas state holiday. Or a national holiday, seeing how he’s an American treasure and all. Plus, he just happened to win the coveted Gershwin Prize, so it’s fairly timely and apropos that he’s releasing Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin – an album of pop standards penned by Ira and George Gershwin, two other American musical treasures. Willie rules.

We flipped over the new single from Dallas’ loud and rowdy faves Bravo Max and have a feeling you will, too. Their sophomore album Bullfighter Blues lands this November and you can help them celebrate on Saturday, April 16 at Harvest House in Denton.

Expect to enjoy repeat plays after your ears first pick up on “Carl Sagan,” the lead single from the new Night Moves album, Pennied Days. Then catch the Minneapolis four-piece at the Double Wide on Friday, May 20.

XOXO
