Concerts this week in North Texas

Well, the season of summer festivals has officially come to an end. But fear not — with fall comes good weather, good times and, of course, good music. We have it on good authority that these next few months will be a cornucopia of stellar shows, live sessions and more — and this weekend is no exception. Here’s your weekly concert calendar, North Texas. Welcome to fall.

Friday, September 25

Cape Town’s Civil Twilight rolls through Dallas this Friday. If you’re a fan, it might interest you to know that the band recently launched a pretty neat Tumblr page they say should be “as much your space as it is [theirs].” Here’s one from their new album Story of an Immigrant:

KXT Presents Civil Twilight with Knox Hamilton at Club Dada on September 25. Tickets here.

Oh, Denton — how we love thee. Where else would you find a festival that brings together film, music, street performers, art and skateboarding? Oh, and not to mention a hefty lineup that includes Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Minus the Bear, The Polyphonic Spree, Thundercat, Sarah Jaffe and more:

Oaktopia takes place in Downtown Denton this Friday-Sunday, September 25-27. Tickets here.

Saturday, September 26

The solo career of Mark Knopfler has been as thrilling to watch as his concerts themselves. Sadly, this one’s sold out. But you can still get your Knopfler-fix with this enthralling interview, shot for his latest album Tracker:

KXT Presents Mark Knopfler at Majestic Theatre on September 26.

New Jersey’s favorite jam band will be stopping by North Texas for one of their famous live shows. Blues Traveler recently released their twelfth studio album, Blow up the Moon, and even more recently dropped a music video for the title track. Oh, and if you’re a 90’s kid, you might recognize a familiar face:

Monday, September 28

Who says the weekend ends on Monday? Keep the concert vibes rolling with folk-rock favorite Langhorne Slim. Here’s the title track of his new album The Spirit Moves:

Langhorne Slim plays at The Loft on September 28. Tickets here.

Happy concerting!
