6 KXT Live Sessions worth re-watching

It’s been six years since we first floated through the airwaves and into your welcoming ears. Obviously, we think that’s cause for celebration — and we’ll be doing so with Houndmouth at KXT Turns 6 on Thursday, November 19 at Granada Theater.

But in anticipation of the festivities, we thought we’d take a quick walk down memory lane — or rather, a plunge into the KXT Live Session archives. Here for your viewing pleasure are 6 of our favorite KXT Live Sessions from over the years:

1) Frank Turner

This 2013 session is a particular favorite among many of the KXT staffers. In fact, after this performance of “Recovery,” we had to take some time to recover ourselves. Listen to the full session here.

2) Sylvan Esso

North Carolina’s Sylvan Esso stopped by our studios back in 2015. Obviously we were hooked on the dreamy vocals of Amelia Meath, but her impromptu-dance moves weren’t too shabby either. Check out the full interview and performance here.

3) The Relatives

Back in 2013, Dallas’ favorite gospel-funk powerhouse came by to see us. They showcased a trio of tracks from their first album in 30 years, The Electric Word. Watch them all here. We dare you not to move your feet.

4) Lucinda Williams

Soulful, raw and fearless; one of the greatest American songwriters of our time. And we got to hear her play. We’re pretty sure we’ll be re-watching this 2014 session for years to come. Full interview and performance can be found here.

5) First Aid Kit

This Swedish sister-duo stole our hearts by way of our ears. KXT staffers agree these two go down in the KXT history books as a definite standout. Listen to the interview and their performance of “My Silver Lining” here.

6) The O’s

How could we not include our first-ever KXT Live Session? This was actually recorded a day before we went on the air in November of 2009. If you look through the studio window, you can see some of the press, friends and visitors that came by to watch KXT history being made. Here’s the interview.

6.5) Sarah Jaffe

You didn’t really expect us to cap our favorites at six, did you? The O’s may have been our first Live Session, but Sarah Jaffe stopped by on KXT’s launch day November 9 to be our first official live, in-studio performer. Check out her full performance with Robert Gomez here.

We hope to see you on November 19 at KXT turns 6! Get your tickets here. In the meantime, here’s to many more years and many, many more performances to come!
