Being a native Texan, my bias sticks out like a sore thumb when I say Willie Nelson‘s birthday should be declared an official state holiday. What with his entire body of work and the happiness he’s brought into so many of our lives – and now that he’s been inducted into the inaugural Austin City Limits Hall of Fame and snagged his fifth-degree black belt in the Korean martial arts practice of GongKwon Yusul – something tells me there won’t be too many dissenters. So let’s take a moment and bow down to the greatness of Willie Hugh Nelson, born on this very day 81 years ago in Abbott, Texas. All hail the mighty Red Headed Stranger! We love you, Willie!
