The Paul Slavens Show: Live Blog for December 16 2012

It was a lovely day, if a bit balmy, but the night is cool and lovely.  Hopefully you can enjoy it while checking out some great tunes.  This is where you leave your polite comments and music suggestions.  Nothing over 6 minutes, please.  I love hearing things on Youtube, but if the music isnt available to download then I probably cant play it, but please leave links to where the music can be purchased, if possible.  Make sure the lyrics are clean, thanks.

New to me this week.

  • I am here listening and awaiting more of your blissful tunage.

I liked that Main Ingredient piece you played a few minutes ago – I always suspected they had more depth than I was aware of.

As for that little western-ish ditty you played next – The Cush was it(?) – well, let’s just say
I hope them thar cowboys don’t give up the lithium pills as it yields thoughtful, spacy, twangy sounds.

    • pslavens_kera

      very dreamy isnt it?

  • keith c

I love this……Can you play I am the Urban Spaceman Bonzo Dog Band

    • pslavens_kera

      I can sure try!!

  • Autumn

The Aislers Set are an amazing ‘chick band’from the 90s, early 2000s that just never got their due. Any song off ‘terrible things happen’ is catchy yet haunting.

    • pslavens_kera

      cool, sounds very interesting

  • Daeron

Nice show tonight…Here’s a little list of stuff for consideration to hear next week. “Mary’s Waltz” by Over the Rhine, “What She Said” by the Smiths, “Plants and Rags” by PJ Harvey or “Sky Flashings” by Earthsuit. Thanks for bringing us some cool sounds each and every week!

  • Don’t have much time tonight because I’m writing my final grad paper of the semester, so I have only two suggestions for next week: Anything off of Built to Spill’s “You in Reverse”…love that record!

And then Cerdes (Outside the Gates of) off of Procol Harum’s first LP.

  • Me likey this cowgirl thingy playing just now too – sounds like Natalie Merchant meets The Cush.

  • Andrew

Are you going to include for your best-of-show next week this song? I think it was one of the coolest songs I heard this year.

Tiger Darrow and Paul Slavens -“Santa Claus Is Coming”

  • Jerem69

Thank you for the Mott The Hoople. Great choice. I can’t help but wonder if Brian Auger/Oblivion Express has a slot next week. Happy holidays to you and yours, Paul. Rock on.

  • keith c

thanks paul would like to hear Blodwyn Pig its only love as well. this is an awesome way to get your sets!!!

  • Jerem69

BTW, the John Cash was most groovy. A real throwback to my youth in West Virginia. Not too shabby, Paul.

  • spikej

How about Baby by Donnie & Joe Emerson. You should look up the history of this band. It’s really an interesting story.

  • pslavens_kera
