I play so much zappa, I feel guilty. but…… ok.

  • Patti Bradley, Denton

No, I’m not watching football. Here are some ideas: Procol Harem, Bread, Cream, Average White Band, Commodores, Vanilla Fudge.
From an even earlier era: Patsy Cline

    • Anonymous

these are all acceptably groovy. thanks

  • Anonymous

good to have you back. i have been done with football since the fantasy season ended. I havent played any Gomez for a while. thanks.

  • Aunt Prune

Lecrae is my favorite Christian Rap Artist. Would recommend anything from his album Rehab.
Leslie Hall is definitely not a conventional artist. Her songs are quirky and strange; for example, her rap song Rollin’ With the Homies starts with a banjo solo. How We Go Out, Gem Sweater, and Shazam (You’re Glamourous) are some of my favorites.

    • Anonymous

I will sure check it out and see what I find. thanks

  • Lauren Ellison

I would love to hear you play some Rising Appalachia “Caminando” from their album The Sails of Self.

They are an amazingly talented sister group and they are working on an album now that us fans helped fund! I think your listeners would love it and they could definitely use some exposure!!

Thanks! Love your show! In the car listening now!

    • Anonymous

thanks so much. i will def check this out this week

  • Aunt Prune

The song “Original Fabulous Fables” is by far one of my favorite jazz songs.

  • Jamesloveswow

“Lilium” by Noma Kumiko! for something reflective
“Farewell/Goodbye” by M83 for something a bit trippy
“Real Late Starter” by Superpowerless for something punky
“Ready For The Floor” by Lissy Trullie for something rocky
“Oh World” by The Western States Motel for something just plain awesome 😀

    These are my suggestions!
Much love to the show! Keep it up!

    • Anonymous

I love lists of songs. thanks so much.

  • J.C. Francis

“Life’s a Gas” by T.Rex would be awesome

    • Anonymous

I think this is an awesome suggestion

  • Jerem69

I thoroughly enjoy the show and new music works for me. When it comes to requests, gotta go with what I know. Ten Hands and Billy Goat I haven’t heard in decades. Another is Root Boy Slim. Or Patty Smith. My tastes are rather diverse. Did I mention Dred Zeppelin?

    • Anonymous

yikes, I try to steer clear of the Ten Hands. but thanks for asking. I dont know if I have any BillyGoat , but i could prolly find some. The other stuff is quite easily done. thanks

  • May I suggest “Possessed By Paul James” … He comes to Dallas a lot, and he’s a one man band of amazing talent.
Thanks! I’m having a lot of fun listening tonight!!

    • Anonymous

keep hearing about him, I will check it out. thanks

  • Anonymous

Oh Denton, I love you too.
Thanks for the suggestion, rawk on.

  • I think to celebrate Midnight in Paris’ GG win tonight you should play “Si Tu Vois Ma Mère” – I mean, some Sidney Bechet anyhow would be cool. xoxo

  • Regan

Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel – Hendershot
    Muddy Waters Trouble No More

    • Anonymous

      yes

  • The show is great as always! Here are some additional suggestions straight from my MP3 player:

“Talk to Me” by Joni Mitchell from Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter (ft. J. Pastorius on bass!)
“Beyond Skin” by Nitin Sawhney from Beyond Skin (magnificent World Beat Electronica)
“Get the Hell Out” by Nine Horses from Money for All (Nine Horses is David Sylvian, his brother-drummer-solo artist of his own accord Steve Jansen, and a guy named Burnt Friedman also a stand alone artist – these 3 are awesome together)
“Scale It Back” DJ Shadow from The Less You Know the Better (so much more than playing records)
“Out of the Blue (Into the Fire) by The The from Infected (the genius angst of Matt Johnson)

There is bound to be something in that little selection that you and my fellow listeners will dig.

Thanks for another whirlwind 2 hours Paul!

Love the new stuff that you’ve been playing!
Just bought a Band of Horses cd recently and noticed the influence from the Beach Boys later works, especially Holland.

Here’s the song ‘The Funeral’ off the Band of Horses album -Everything All the Time- :
