James McMurtry has become well known around the country for his sharp, literate songs that can also rattle the rafters of the clubs he plays. Honing his craft with a Wednesday-night residency at Austin’s Continental Club, he now has made music for more than 20 years. His most recent records, Childish Things and Just Us Kids, are considered some of his best.
